Group therapy is highly recommended as a complimentary support to individual therapy services. Groups provide the opportunity to practice and build on coping and communication skills, boundary setting and key techniques and experiments that are being learned in individual sessions, in a safe environment. Group therapy allows the participants to build a supportive community with individuals on a similar healing journey and it allows the common feelings experienced during this process to take place in a supportive community. Group topics are curated based on identified needs of the community accompanied by action steps that allow for realistic implementation in society.
During your healing journey, we will work together to achieve your wellness goals. We will practice curiosity, empathy and compassion for yourself, as you become comfortable with uncomfortable emotions, thoughts and existing beliefs that no longer work for you. We will identify difficulties being experienced, body sensations and consistent beliefs that affect your ability to be your authentic self; such as symptoms associated with depression, anxiety, trauma and unmet expectations by society, family, and cultural beliefs that affect the decisions you make and your ability to be authentically you. As we work together, you will gain the skills to own your emotions and decisions, and gain the autonomy you need to feel better, as you practice living wholeheartedly, while coping with the challenges that will be experienced in this journey.
When becoming overwhelmed and/or feeling stuck emotionally or unable to achieve goals because of repetitive beliefs, behaviors, ruminating thoughts, disturbing physical symptoms and unhealthy ways of coping as a Trauma and EMDR therapist, we will use EMDR therapy to allow your brain to reprocess experiences that are stopping you from living your full life. As an EMDR therapist, I am able to assist clients who experience trauma symptoms, severe depression, anxiety, OCD, pain and addiction with reprocessing memories and ongoing life stressors that do not allow you to cope in a healthier way and live your full life. Clients who have memories that are actively disturbing their present lives; ranging from lived experiences in unsafe communities, childhood traumas, racism and injustices. EMDR can remove or drastically decrease disturbing symptoms being experienced.
You may already have a therapist, but are feeling stuck or not seeing a decrease in your symptoms. You do not need to leave the therapist you enjoy working with. We can introduce EMDR therapy to overcome key challenges that may be getting in the way of your therapeutic journey, and allow you to successfully meet your therapeutic goals without the disturbing symptoms stunting your progress while still receiving the support of your therapist.
I am a Certified Clinical Supervisor that believes good supervision supports and assists the provider with gaining the knowledge and confidence needed to provide quality care. You will understand the power of your self-care and I will challenge you to be curious, identify your blindspots and utilize your values and authenticity, to provide quality care and decrease personal burnout. You will learn key skills that will assist you with helping your clients meet their therapeutic goals and will help you manage agency politics and challenges. Supervision sessions will be an hour.
It is important that you work for a board approved agency, that will consent for you to receive outside supervision. Individual and/or group supervision will take place on a weekly basis. You will be responsible for tracking your hours and I will be responsible for completing and signing your documentation.
